Why do an apprenticeship

An apprenticeship or traineeship, can offer you the chance to work and gain a qualification in over 500 careers.

An apprenticeship or traineeship:

  • gives you the opportunity to study and learn new skills while getting paid
  • is for anyone aged 16 and above
  • can be completed full time, part time or while you’re at school.

The difference between apprenticeships and traineeships

An apprenticeship gives you a qualification in a skilled trade, such as building, hairdressing or commercial cookery. They take around 4 years to complete.

A traineeship offers training in a broad range of occupations, such as administration, information technology or hospitality. Generally, a traineeship can be completed between one to 2 years.

Australian Apprenticeships includes both apprenticeships and traineeships.
