Choosing a high school
There’s a lot to consider when you’re choosing a high school for your child.
Some families choose their local public high school. Others look into private school options or choose to home school their child.
Choosing a school
When you’re choosing a school you may consider:
- how close the school is to home and work
- the school’s teaching methods and if they cater to your child’s needs
- the school’s academic performance
- where your child’s friends are going to high school.
You can use the My School website to get information about schools.

Enrolment zones for public high schools
Most public high schools have enrolment zones, sometimes called catchments. This means your child must live within a certain area around the school to attend.
