Helping your child start high school
Starting high school means big changes for your child. You can help ease their worries by preparing them before they start.
You can help your child:
- plan for making new friends
- learn the layout of the school
- become familiar with transport routes to and from school
- by talking to them about their first day.
There is helpful information about becoming a teen, including starting high school, on the Kids Helpline website.
You can learn more about starting secondary school on the Raising Children website.
Textbooks, stationery and uniforms
When your child starts high school, there may be costs associated with textbooks, stationery and uniforms. Get in touch with your child’s high school to discuss any requirements.
