Connect your Digital Identity

Find out how to connect, and disconnect your Digital Identity to your myGov account.

You need to create your Digital Identity, such as myGovID, before you can connect it to myGov.

Before you connect Digital Identity to your myGov account

Before you connect your myGovID to your myGov account make sure:

  • you've downloaded the myGovID app
  • you set up your myGovID to a Standard or Strong identity strength.

Connect your Digital Identity to your myGov account

There are 2 ways you can connect your Digital Identity to your myGov account.

Connect before you sign in to myGov

  1. Go to the myGov sign in page.
  2. Select Continue with Digital Identity.
  3. Select myGovID as your Identity Provider.
  4. Enter your myGovID email address – a 4-digit code will appear onscreen.
  5. Log into your myGovID app on your mobile device and enter or accept the 4-digit code.
  6. Go back to your browser and consent to sharing your information with myGov.
  7. Select Sign in to myGov and sign into your myGov account to connect your myGovID.

Connect after you sign in to myGov

  1. Sign in to myGov.
  2. Select My account.
  3. Select Profile.
  4. Select Digital Identity.
  5. Select Connect Digital Identity.
  6. Select myGovID as your identity provider and follow the prompts.

After connecting Digital Identity to your myGov account, you will be able to sign in to myGov using your Digital Identity.

How to disconnect your Digital Identity

You can disconnect your Digital Identity in your myGov account.

To disconnect your Digital Identity from your myGov account, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to myGov.
  2. Select My account.
  3. Select Profile
  4. Select Digital Identity.
  5. Select Disconnect Digital Identity and follow the prompts.

Once you've disconnected your Digital Identity, you'll need to use your myGov sign in details to access your account.
