Government help if you’re renting

If you’re renting, you may be eligible for Centrelink payments, government concessions and other help.

If you’re renting a property, you may get a payment from Centrelink or use Centrepay to help with rent costs.

  • Rent Assistance

    You can get this payment if you pay rent and get certain payments from Services Australia.

  • Rent Deduction Scheme

    Find out how you can use this service to pay your public housing rent from your Centrelink payment on the Services Australia website.

  • Centrepay

    A free and voluntary service to pay bills and expenses as regular deductions from your Centrelink payments.

Help with health care

You may be eligible for a Low Income Health Care Card if you have a low income. This can help you get cheaper health care and discounts.
