Use myGov Sign in details

Find out how to set up your multifactor authentication option and use your myGov sign in details.

You’ll set up a username, password and a multifactor authentication option when you create your myGov account. These are your myGov sign in details.

Your multifactor authentication option is an extra layer of security to help keep your myGov account safe.

Follow these steps to sign in:

1.   Enter your username and password.

Your username may be any of these:

  • your unique 8 digit myGov username, emailed to you when you created your account
  • the email address registered to your myGov account
  • your mobile phone number, if you have it set up as a username.

2.   Enter your multifactor authentication option

Your multifactor authentication option will be one of these:

  • SMS code
  • the myGov Code Generator app.

If you can’t use a multifactor authentication option, you may choose to sign in with secret questions and answers. But there are steps you should take to make sure your account is as secure as possible.
