Use secret questions and answers
How to turn on secret questions and answers as an additional sign in option.
Use secret questions and answers if you can’t use a multifactor authentication option like SMS codes or the myGov Code Generator app.
Before you start
Your secret questions and answers were created when you first set up your myGov account. You can turn this option off or update your answers at any time.
If you want to access services like the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you’ll need to choose a different multifactor authentication option.
Update your secret questions and answers
Follow these steps to update your secret questions and answers, or add a new secret question:
- From the My account drop down menu, select Account settings.
- From Sign in settings, go to Secret questions and select Manage.
- Select Edit on your secret questions or Add a secret question.
- Verify your identity and select Next.
- Enter your new answer, and select Continue.
