Mobility Allowance
This helps with travel costs for work, study, training or looking for work if you have disability, illness or injury.
Mobility Allowance is a payment from Services Australia.
Who can get it
To get this you must:
- be 16 years or older
- meet the residence rules
- be unable to use public transport without a lot of help
- have a disability, illness, or injury
- need to travel for paid or voluntary work, study, training, or to look for work.
You can’t get this allowance if you have either:
- funded support from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
- a car from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs under their Vehicle Assistance Scheme or Motor Vehicle Compensation Scheme.

How to get it
Claim online
You'll need to link Centrelink to your myGov account, if you haven’t already.
If you don’t have a myGov account
Follow the steps to create a myGov account. After you’ve created one, you can link services to your account.
If you can't claim online
Call the Disability, sickness and carers line on the Services Australia website.
Help in your language
Call the Centrelink multilingual phone service on 131 202 to speak with someone in your language.
